SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL RESTAURANTS! “Tavern-style”, “square-cut”, “thin n’ crispy”, whatever you call it, it’s the style of pizza Chicagoans actually eat. Created after World War II, tavern style was intended to be eaten as a quick snack with beer at the local watering hole. The square pieces made the pie sharable and easier for bar patrons to eat. Aside from the unique cut, tavern style often has a signature cracker-thin crust. Often delivered in a paper container and paired with a liter of RC Cola (a bottle of which would always magically arrive with the ‘za) and you have a genuine Chicago meal.
